Who Are We

Established in 1987, Legatus is a non-profit 501(c)3 association of Catholic CEOs and company presidents along with their spouses.  The mission of Legatus is “To study, live, and spread the Faith in our business, professional, and personal lives.”  Candidates for membership must meet specific business and religious criteria.

Some unique features of Legatus are that spouses are full members, and there is a non-solicitation policy part of the by-laws.  Both of these features help to enhance the member experience.

Legatus chapters are established in dioceses throughout the world.  The approval of the local ordinary is always sought at the outset of a new chapter initiative.

The Legatus International Headquarters are located in Naples, Florida.

Legatus is overseen by an International Board of Directors, which convenes three times a year.  Reverend Robert Spitzer serves as the National Chaplain and Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua is the International Ecclesiastical Advisor.

Currently, Legatus has five regions in North America:  Northeast, South, Great Lakes, Central, and West.  A Regional Director, who has an office in his/her respective region, heads each region.  The Regional Director oversees the activities of the chapters and chapter coordinators in his/her region.

Each local chapter is governed by a Chapter Board of Directors.  Local chapter officers include the President, Vice-President, Program Chair, Membership Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.
